Wat er nog resteert van de St.Pietersberg, rond de groeve, is beschermd natuurgebied en bovengronds en ondergronds aangewezen als beschermd Habitatrichtlijngebied.
Daarachter Sint-Pieterberg met bossen gezien in de richting Belgie. In de achtergrond in het dal ligt het Belgische dorp Kanne, het water is het Albertkanaal.
